    Huey thinking that the inspection being real is probably the only true thing about this. He's the kind of guy desperate to justify his own actions to others, and lie about the bad ones to prop himself up. He probably did want to make MSF seem justified in the eyes of the world and tried to take the initiative for that when he thought everyone else was being unreasonable about something that would help them. Every single one of his actions are driven by self-preservation and cowardice. Rather than go the long way around of sticking with his comrades, he hoped to prove them wrong in an action that turned out fatal for everyone, and he forgets others lost things too. He did lose a lot, but his cowardly nature meant he lost a lot less.

    Piecing everything together as best I can given the hints towards certain things being a lie: 1. Both "Big Boss" and the Medic are moved to Dhekelia in Cyprus in order to receive medical treatment. When Zero visits, BB's doctor claims that he's still been in a coma the past two years. We do hear Big Boss's heart pumping abnormally fast for someone in a coma, so its possible that he's either faking or just in a medically-induced one. The Medic's transformation also shouldn't have happened until the last month of his stay, so a second patient had to have been given plastic surgery to have the appearance of Snake. We do know that Zero implied that a "mental copy" of Big Boss was prepared before Ocelot had even got involved, so I'm thinking that this was the original copy. The Medic did have a very distinct head injury and missing arm that you would think that Zero would have mentioned, and yet he can't tell the two apart. This leads me to believe that while the Medic and Big Boss were both in the same hospital, they didn't actually share a room. This would help explain the "non-smoking ward" comment and the sound a of a sliding versus hinged door. 2. Awakening. Given the evidence shown through MGSV, it seems pretty reasonable to assume that Ishmael was simply a hallucination in Venom's mind. Given this "Fight Club" type twist, when we see the full version of events play out in "The Truth" mission, we're also given context on how to view the end scene. The cutscene filmography starts off showing a controlled zoom-in on Venom's face which is in the center of the frame. This happens a few times in Fight Club to hint that what Jack is about to see is a hallucination. We then cut to "Big Boss" and Ocelot in a cutscene where everything is viewed in a controlled manner; all cuts, pans and zooms are conducted as if the "camera" was moving about a track. This is in stark contrast to the shaky third-person cam that you see for the rest of the game and is a specific detail mentioned by Kojima himself. The time frame for this occuring make no sense at all, as you can see the sun rising as Big Boss goes to depart; Ocelot presumably departs after this convo and takes Venom to the freighter, and yet it remains dark for the entirety of time thereafter. We know that the only concept art of Big Boss from MGSV isn't even Big Boss, it's simply Venom wearing the same Biker outfit from that cutscene. And what do see occur before Big Boss rides off into the sunset? A controlled zoom-in with Big Boss's face at the center of the frame. This and the content of the "Big Boss" Truth Tapes tells me that the tapes and cutscene in question were just further mental conditioning used by Ocelot to "cement" Venom's Doublethink. We see a sink in the Medic's hospital room that directly matches the sink that we see Venom has revelation in front of at the end of the game. "Big Boss" claiming that he was going to be the bodyguard for his own body double makes no logical sense, but it would have given to a tremendous boost to Venom's ego and psyche. As backwards as it may seem, I don't think BB was ever involved in the recording of those audio tapes. It was all scripted statements made by Venom while under the effects of hypnogogia. Big Boss likely departed a week or so before Venom was woken up, which is when Mantis picked up BB's brainwaves and caused the plane crash we can hear the audio of at the beginning of the game. Venom becoming aware of his dual existence is something Ocelot felt was likely inevitable

    • @josephasbury4492
      @josephasbury4492 6 місяців тому

      inevitable, so he devised the "Man Who Sold the World" tape to include an audio recording of a hypnotized Venom claiming he was Big Boss, and that they "both" were the real Big Boss in order to work together towards a common goal. He also leaked the BS "Truth Tapes" to give Venom the rest if the context he needed to make sense of things, and from there willfully chose to continue on being Big Boss.

    “You can kill skull face, murder Huey, slaughter zero, burn the whole world down, and it still won’t bring me back. Me or any of the dead” This line was what really hit me like a truck and realize how pointless the revenge in the game truly was. The whole time playing I wanted nothing murder than to butcher the people who killed Chico, Paz, and all of msf but in the end once you get your revenge it doesn’t change the fact that they’re all gone and nothing you can do will change that. Chasing revenge is just being stuck in the anger phase of grief and refusing to move on. In the end venom managed to break free of the anger phase and finally move on but big boss he never even got past denial. For big boss he couldn’t accept that his encouraging of Chico being a child soldier led to his death, that his use of nuclear weapons led to the destruction of msf, and that his misunderstanding of the boss’s will led to the death of paz. So in the end big boss doubled down on everything and became the worst possible version of himself in a twisted denial that he was inadvertently responsible for much of what happened that day.

    • @2Good2BeTrue45
      @2Good2BeTrue45 3 місяці тому

      Uh you started off great then went waaaaaay in the wrong direction lol what you described was not Big Boss but Zero. Zero was already in the darkest depths of hell, which is literally how Paz (Pacifica Ocean) was created. Zero made countless child soldiers and had them pitted against each other in essentially a battle royal esque Mortal Kombat scenario where they were starved to death, had to betray and kill each other to advance to the next day and go to the deepest of depravity in order to succeed Zero's "standards" to finally meet him in Hells Kitchen NY in his secluded facility. In Zero's own words "sewer rats lead better lives". Big Boss never made Chico into a child soldier period. He never even had Chico fight alongside the army at all, never even allowed him to smoke and relegated him to other tasks on the base. It's another reason why Chico felt insecure around Paz and why he would act put at times. Chico was a POW and Snake rescued him. It was Amanda and Chico himself that both wanted to be soldiers as they were already born into the guerilla lifestyle and yet Snake still discouraged Chico from being a soldier and stopped his attempts to be one. Zero became an egomaniacal sociopath, hell bent on world domination. He essentially became the devil himself in the MGS story. Big Boss's mustakenwas forming the Patriots with Zero in the first place and once Zero's true intentions and nature surfaced, Big Boss realized just how deep he had gotten himself into and decided to walk away. Only reason Big Boss engaged in war with Zero is because Zero was enabling individuals like Skullface to have power large enough to destroy and topple their base, other countries, etc. Zero's reach was far too vast, and he needed to be brought down. Big Boss's understood the Boss's will by the end of Peace Walker ("she put down her gun") he took it in a bad way to think she made the choice to walk away from Snake and all her experiences as a Soldier. That she would rather surrender her life and her connections she had than fight to live.

    • @plugshirt1762
      @plugshirt1762 3 місяці тому

      @@2Good2BeTrue45I mean big boss very much does misunderstand the boss’ will lol the negative way he perceive it literally is a misunderstanding of it. He doesn’t have much better of a grasp on her true will than zero does as they both interpret it incorrectly in different manners with only solid snake truly achieving her will without even knowing it. Big boss was very much responsible for much of what happens in ground zeroes seeing as he literally holds onto nuclear bombs and begins joining in conflicts he said he wouldn’t get involved in. You can’t say he made Chico into a solider but he very much encouraged his lifestyle and we see later on big boss literally raised children to be soldiers by killing their parents and forcing their kids into training. Zero is hardly even relevant to the story considering skull face works outside of his orders and is trying to kill him as well. Skull face is the main one responsible for breaking big boss and causing him to become a far worse person as he has everything taken from him. Big boss then goes on to become pretty much the most clear cut war criminal out there with his goal being to create a world of perpetual conflict. Zero is obviously evil as well but he’s so poorly written it’s hard to really care about him much beyond what is necessary. Zero is responsible for some portion of big boss becoming a worse person but big boss definitely has the larger portion he is responsible for himself for choosing sell on his bitter contempt and nihilism rather than becoming a better person as solid snake is able to do. I don’t even know what you’re on about with zero lol he isn’t in denial about anything it barely even makes sense that he cared about the boss’ death as much as he did or how he became the main villain of the series either zero build up.

    This game is what made feel empathy for Zero. He was never a *bad* guy. He genuinely wanted a world where all was one, but aside from his misinterpretation, he wanted Big Boss back. I find it terrifying that in the Metal Gear universe, Vocal Cord Parasites have been around for 300 million years. Code Talker mentions that the parasites were predatory autotrophs in that time, which in a nutshell means that they were organisms that could undergo photosynthesis when in direct exposure to light. Their ability to photosynthesize explains why characters like The End, Code Talker and Quiet can thrive under sunlight without ever needing to eat. Even after millions of years, they still never got rid of their original abilities.
